From at least 1915 up until the 1960s this was Henry Robinsons newsagents. Later taken over by W.H Crane. I have a couple of memories of visiting this newsagents during the 1970s.

110 Elm Grove
From 1917 110 Elm Grove was a Drapers store ran by Mrs Hobden. The first mention of a Girl Guide’s shop was c.1958.

I did a paper round from this shop from the late 70’s until 1983.
Mr. William Crane was a kind man its a shame to see the shop has gone. I also did a paper round here in the late ’60s. So many corner stores have closed and the business taken over by big supermarket chains.
Scott’s! We loved this shop. Big jars of sweets and we were allowed to just have 1/8th measures.
