It was run by Louise Worger and her family from the 1870s until the 1910s. By 1937 the pub had gone, and the premises became a pawnbrokers.
The earliest record for the Race Horse Inn is 1882 when it was listed as the Race Horse Tavern run by H Stubberfield.

Built in 1933. Closed as a cinema in the late 1970s, it became a Bingo Hall. This closed in 1997.
