A couple of landlords worthy of a mention were Walter Golden who ran the pub during the early 1900s and the Banks family who ran the pub during the 1920s and 30s.
The earliest record for the Race Horse Inn is 1882 when it was listed as the Race Horse Tavern run by H Stubberfield.

Built in 1933. Closed as a cinema in the late 1970s, it became a Bingo Hall. This closed in 1997.
