They set up their brewery behind Richmond Place and called it the Phoenix Brewery. Henry Tamplin was for many years one of the Town Commissioners. He was also a cricketer.
After being out on a hunt, Henry dismounted his horse on the hills at Pangdean. He was chatting with his fellow hunters and staggered and fell. He died instantly. His body was taken to the Plough Inn at Patcham. His body was then taken back to his home in Lennox Place, Brighton.

Born and brought up in Ipswich John Cordy Burrows trained as a surgeon. He moved to Brighton in 1837.

Built in 1933. Closed as a cinema in the late 1970s, it became a Bingo Hall. This closed in 1997.
