Lea & Sons came to these premises in 1914. Described as the Famous Blouse Shop it also sold hats etc. Later on it became Lea & Sons drapers store up until the 1950s.

This building was originally The Gardener’s Arms pub, and owned by Smither’s Brewery. Smither’s signage was revealed briefly during renovations.
C. Baker & Co., a wholesale tobacconists was at these premises from at least 1947 to the late 1950s.

Work has now commenced on controversial plans to alter the traffic flow and accessibility of the area between St. Peter’s and Pool Valley.

Demolition has started of the old Pink Coconut Night Club.
Built in 1933. Closed as a cinema in the late 1970s, it became a Bingo Hall. This closed in 1997.
